Unassigned & unidentified driving

Investigate the driverless record instead of clearing a notification.

LESSON 1 / 2 · Match movement with the person who drove

Match movement with the person who drove

Learn what unidentified driving is and how to review it.

Movement is recorded without a logged-in driver

When a truck moves without an authenticated driver, the ELD records the activity in an unidentified-driver profile. “Unassigned” means it has not been linked to the correct person. It is still recorded activity, not time outside the rules.

On login, review the relevant events. Claim driving that belongs to you. Indicate when it does not. Do not accept someone else’s activity just to clear a notification.

The event’s time and location help establish who actually moved the truck.

Rejecting a move does not delete it; the carrier still investigates.

Rejecting does not delete

The event stays available for carrier review. The next lesson explains how the carrier identifies the operator or records why the event remains unassigned.
