Review & certify driver logs

Understand the driver’s signature and when to sign again.

LESSON 1 / 2 · Sign the completed day

Sign the completed day

Know what the driver’s certification means.

The driver affirms accuracy

Certification is the driver’s statement that the log for a twenty-four-hour period is true and correct. Review it, fix permitted errors, and add missing information first. Certify immediately after the final required entry is made or corrected.

Like signing an expense report, check the contents before signing.

Certification covers the completed record. Later activity needs another review.

New activity may require another review

What an early signature misses

At a glance · Follow the sequence

  1. 01

    Review

    Review the completed activity

  2. 02

    Certify

    Affirm the record is accurate

  3. 03

    Late work

New activity needs another review and certification

A signature cannot certify activity that has not happened yet.

Address missed certifications promptly. Submit required records within thirteen days. Daily review is a better habit than waiting for that deadline.

Only the driver can certify

Carrier staff can send reminders and help investigate errors. They cannot certify for the driver. Keep days needing corrections separate from days ready for certification.
