Capstone: run a complete fleet review

Combine trip planning, record investigation, correction, and inspection readiness in one working-day exercise.

LESSON 2 / 3 · Investigate a day with conflicting records

Investigate a day with conflicting records

Choose a separate factual resolution for each issue.

Facts first, correction second

Start by identifying the actual activity and operator. Correct editable entries, assign driving to the right person, and add missing trip details. Preserve originals. Accepted changes to a submitted day require driver review, recertification, and resubmission.

Identify each mismatch before choosing its resolution.

Three issues on one certified day

The log has an off-duty period that overlaps fueling, a ten-minute unidentified move at a shop, and a missing trailer number after a swap. The submitted day is certified. Each issue needs its own review.

Use the right workflow for each

  1. Fueling: establish the task and time, then propose the accurate permitted status correction with an annotation.
  2. Shop move: check vehicle, time, location, and shop records. Assign correctly or explain why it remains unassigned.
  3. Trailer swap: obtain and enter the actual identifier.
  4. Submitted day: have the driver review accepted changes, recertify, and resubmit.

Do not reduce automatically recorded driving or assign a shop move to a convenient driver.

Prevent the same errors

Coach truthful work statuses, login checks before movement, and equipment updates at swaps. Use the findings to improve the next shift.
