Correct logs without rewriting history

Distinguish valid edits, driving restrictions, and carrier proposals.

LESSON 2 / 2 · Make a carrier proposal reviewable

Make a carrier proposal reviewable

Keep driver confirmation and original records in the process.

The carrier proposes; the driver decides

After the driver submits a log, the carrier can propose an accurate correction. The driver confirms or rejects it. Accepted edits require the driver to recertify and resubmit the changed record.

The carrier must not request these edits before submission or bypass driver confirmation. Keep the original and the edit history.

A useful proposal gives the driver enough detail to check the task and time.

Make the proposal easy to check

  1. Identify the event and error.
  2. Describe the proposed change and supporting evidence.
  3. Add a factual annotation.
  4. Have the driver confirm or reject the change.
  5. After acceptance, have the driver recertify and resubmit.
From carrier review to a final record

At a glance · Follow the sequence

  1. 01

    Evidence

Reviewer matches the task and time

  2. 02

    Proposal

Driver receives the correction and reason

  3. 03

    Confirmation

Driver reviews, then recertifies accepted changes

The carrier’s proposal is not the driver’s final affirmation.

Do not edit to hide a violation

If the correct log shows over-hours driving, address the violation and its cause. Editing cannot erase it.
